Detectives of the night

Narrator: Our story begins with two friends. The first, Grey, is a master detective mostly known as the grey line but nobody susspects that it is her. The second, Carly, who is Grey's best friend, but also partner. Carly is mostly known as the midnight c but as grey is, she is not suspected a bit, their masks hide everything but their eyes. What they're looking for is a ring, a ring that the police have been look for for almost two months now. A ruby ring.

Grey: Hey! What am I looking for again?

Carly: You're looking for a ruby ring. It should be somewhere down there, if my calculations were correct. Imagine the look on the polices face when they find it.

Grey: It isn't down here. I'm sure of it!

Carly: fine. I'll pull you back up. One second. (Pause). Hey Grey. Where did you put the rope?

Grey: It would be right next to the edge.

Carly: Well, it isn't there anymore!

Grey: hmmmmm mysterious.

Carly: I'm throwing down my bungee cord instead!

Grey: Ok

Carly: (Throws down the cord) Can you see it?

Grey: Yep. (Grabs the cord and gets pulled up.)

Carly: Ok, let's go into town, I'm starving!

Walk out and scene ends

Narrator: As our friends journey to the center of town, we arrive at the police station, where Chief Tori of the police department, is eating her lunch, and talking on the phone.

Chief Tori: What do you mean your child went missing? How can a child go missing in a small town like this?

Townsperson2: Well! Maybe if you did your job correctly! Things like this wouldn't happen!

Chief tori: Hey! Don't you yell at me! I am thr chief of police and you got me in the middle of my lunch break. 

Townsperson2: Oh your lunch break! Well that is much more important than a missing kid. 

Yeah, I'm having raisin brain. Fine I'll send over an officer to investigate. Yeah yeah bye.

Tonsperson2: Yeah yeah bye.

(Police woman walks up)

Police1: Tori, another officer has gone missing. He was also out looking for the ring.

Chief tori: Well isn't that mysterious? (While eating cereal)

Police1: Remember, after your lunch we have a meeting with the Grey Line and the Midnight C.

Chief Tori: okay. Bring the cruiser down to it instead of the regular car, because this is a meeting of  authority. (Pause). Okay let's go.

Narrator: Back in y town, Grey and Carly are still on their way to the sub shop, when a girl comes running up to them with great sadness on her face.

Townsperson1: Oh Gerry Line, Midnight C! My dog, he's gone! One moment i was walking him down the road like I usually do on a Sunday morning such as this. But he was gone when I looked down.

Grey: Where were you when you realized that this dog of yours was gone?

Townperson: I was down by the alley near the library.

Midnight C: Okay don't worry we have gotten many of these problems and every time it has ended with success.

Townperson1: thank you.

Narrator: soon Grey and Carly arrive at the alley by the library's and shooting behind a dumpster eating an old taco is a little dog.

Grey: Mission accomplished.

Narrator: the jumps from behind and has have reunion with his owner.

Carly: yes, but when do we not suc- (gets hit in the head and falls to the ground.

Grey: Carly!

Narrator: Soon a shadowy figure knocks down the person who hit Carly and started to run away.

Grey: Wait! Who are you?

The unknown one: I'm the unknown one

I walk in the help each others in great need. I am she who walks unseen over the rooftops and trees. But don't ever come looking for me, because I am the unknown and you will never known. ( runs away)

Grey: who was that who jumped you?

Carly: don't know

Main thief: it was me. I come with a warning. If you wish to live, you will not return looking for the ruby ring. I want no trouble, unless you make me. So stay stop looking or die a painful death. (Runs away)

Carly: common don't worry about it, we have a meeting with

chief tori we must hurry if we don't want to be late.

Grey: yeah. I guess.

(Scene ends in sub shop with chief tori)

Chief Tori: So you've seen how we get so many problems with this case?

Grey: Yes we do, but when we were attacked, someone came to help us a maskedman I believe.

Carly: Yeah, this person came and hit the thief off of me and threw him into the wall who ran away later and the unknown person started to run away. I mean who ever could have done something like that has to have been trained or have had experience.

Chief Tori: Ok, I'll look into it. And the person that attacked you guys, what did they say?

Grey: they said that we should stop looking for the ring or we'll die.

Chief tori: so this person threatened you just because of a ring?

Carly: yes

Chief tori: well looks like we've got a psychopath to find.

Police 1: I think that I have all that I need to finish the case. We'll be going now. ( everyone leaves)

Main thief: well we need to get that ring.

Thief: how will we, we have to get a ring before two master detectives, and the entire police force There are two of us. We are outnumbered. I say we give up.

Main thief: no! No! We will not give up! If we attack them enough, they will see that we are serious about them being in danger and they will hand the ring over to us, once they find it, before they can give any evidence against us.

Thief: are you sure about this?

Main thief: positive.

Narrator: we arrive back on the streets of the town where our friends have been walking around, searching for

Grey: it is getting late, do you want to get some pizza for dinner?

Carly: sure.

Grey: I just notices that we have another case on our hand that we have to finish first. The unknown one.

Carly: oh yes, we must figure out who that is.

Grey: how are we supposed to know who it is, she wears a mask and hops along rooftops, to get around?

Carly: I have an idea. We can let ourselves get into danger so the unknown one comes to help and we can rip their mask off.

Grey: great, now we can do both at the same time.

Carly: exactly.

Narrator: so as the best friends plan to find this ring and find this person, we go to the unknown one in they're usual hiding spot. The alleyway of the library

Unknown one: what are you doing here? (Chief tori walks out)

Chief Tori: I need your help.

Chief tori: I need for you to keep an eye one the girls.

Unknown one: and why should I help you?

Chief tori: because you owe me one. Do you remember that shy little girl that you used to be? I changed her, I trained her. You would have died in the hands of your enemies if it weren't for me.

Unknown one: OK. So what do you want me to do.

Chief tori: follow them and if they run into trouble, then help

Unknown one. And if I don't do as you instruct?

Chief. Then you my friend are going to be in a world of hurt.

Unknown one: fine, when do I start?

Chief. Now

Narrator: Now as the Unknown one is doing their unknown business of jumping on rooftops and hiding in the shadows, we return to Grey and Carly , who have set out once again for the hunt of the ruby ring.

Carly: I'm sure it's here this time.

Grey: That's what you said the last three times.

Carly: Yes but this time, I'm absolutely positively sure.

Grey: Yeah sure...

Carly: try looking behind that wall!

Grey: OK! (Pause) Hey! Hey! Look! Its a hidden door!

Carly: (runs over) oh my god! Do you know what this means?!

Grey: There better be a ring down there or someone's getting hurt?

Carly: no, but we have to open it.

Grey: how do you think we open it? Its sealed.

Carly: well, these panelles are off so that means (yawns) why don't we keep thos for the morning?

Grey: no,we have to do this now. What were you saying?

Carly: well if these panelles are off than these others then that means that you can... (Takes them out and smiles) take them out.

Grey: well don't just sit there. Pull the lever!

Carly: (pulls the lever and the trap door opens) oh... My ... God!

Grey: you said that already,... (Goes over to the trap door)

Carly: I know! (Pulls out the ring).

Grey: We found it! We actually found it!

Carly: hurray!

Thief( comes out) I don't think so.( comes after them).

Grey: Throw it to me Carly!

Carly: ( throws the ring and is intercepted by the unknown one.)

Grey: hey! When did you get here!?

The unknown one: just now actually.( hands the ring to carly) run as fast as you can. The police are waiting outside. (They hesitate). Now! I'll hold this one off. ( they run away)

Thief1: my my well hasn't it been a long time since we talked?

Unknown one: actually I kicked your butt yesterday.

Thief 1: why yes but I'm going to make sure that that never happens again. ( comes at the unknown one. Who ducks out of the way.)

Unknown one: you know that you can never defeat me right?

Thief1: I beg to differ.

Unknown one: do you remember what I did to your partner three years ago? Well I might as well do it to you, you guys can have a little reunion.( walks and dissapears).

Thief1: you can not hide from me!

Unknown one: oh I don't have to hide.( jumps out grabs him and pulls him away.to the police)

Unknown one: here you go. ( hands over the thief)

Tori: thanks Riley.

Everyone: riley?!

Unknown one: yeah( pulls off mask)

Everyone: ( gasps)

Tori: so Grey Line? Can I see the ring?

Grey: yep(hands her the ring).

Tori: take these away, Sally

Police1: yes ma'am. ( pulls thief away)

Thief: this isn't over!

Police1: yeah yeah, good luck with that! Common let's go. Drags her away.

Tori: here I want you to have this. ( hands the ring to them.)

Carly: cool! Why though?

Tori: because I know that you'll keep it safe.

Grey: thank you so much!

Unknown one: today's history, tomorrows a mystery. Or should I say today's a mystery and tomorrow's another way for us to get hurt. (Sigh)

Everyone: (laughs)

Narrator: Well this is the end of the play. The girls kept the ring and they all lived happily ever after. Wait, this isn't a fairy tale, no here are some of the bad things that happened. The thief was in jail. the unknown one broke her arm from falling from a slippery rooftop and Grey and Carly did not continue their detective partnership after college. All of this was terrible, until one day...
